Champaign native Crofton Coleman’s soulful sounds pull influence from legendary artists such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Roberta Flack. A former lead singer in the band Church Booty and graduate of the jazz program at the U of I, he incorporates rich harmony and tasteful counter-melodies with catchy vocals, (which can be heard on his recordings Watercolors and Love Affair 1984). Add the incredibly talented Justin Copeland (trumpet), Jordan Vanhemert (sax), Elijah Harris (guitar), Kurt Shelbey Jr. (bass), James Russel Sims (drums), and Tyler Sheilds (percussion) and the listener is in for a night full of music to groove to.
